CES - Chronicles Preatenienses - 3 By José Luis López Bulla and Miquel Falguera I have received an interview, dated April 21, with Bernadette Ségol, the only candidate for the General Secretariat of the European Trade Union Confederation that submission to the next Congress to be held in Athens on 16-19 May.
The interview with our future Secretary-General agrees in content with the basic document prepared for the Congress immediately and to which I referred in this blog the same April 21
This coincidence is logical because Ségol Bernadette was one of the people instrumental in the preparation of the Congress. But remains concerned when such matches are precisely those that understand how negative aspects of the theory and practice CES. I note below some of the elements of the interview, which is in
Bernadette various aspects aims to be " avoid " or those who have to "be against "
"... prevent the market (labor) will result in competition between workers from different countries ... counter European court decisions ... decisions Rüffert / Laval ... inequality, restructuring ... "
or platitudes with which the discrepancy may wonder if enough is his statement:
"Our first concern ... is to maintain the European social model must be developed ... relationship between national and European shares "
without reference, and less analysis, the dispersion in content and timing of union mobilization in Europe (many national, some European) in 2010. References and understand that essential analysis, for which demand is pushing the new general strike in Greece which is developing in the day, the second already this year, after the half dozen or 2010. To add
"The European events express the existence of a certain solidarity"
Then said Bernadette Ségol:
"Certain unions are in favor of unionism powerful Europe. Others fear Europe's development and prefer to maintain their privileges at the national level ... between these two trends is necessary to find a balance ... "
And the main points European trade unionism hits
"... the EWC, ... the directive on temporary work .. the withdrawal of the Services Directive ..."
noted as a key strategy for its proecupación the possible accentuation of problems "if the unions do not coordinate."
Poor print because it is clear from this interview, which does not appear to be attributable to poor situational time taking into account the aforementioned documents. Though hope is that the harsh reality may end up imposing a greater lucidity in Congress or later. In any case next week we shall return to this issue and these pages I will transmit my impressions from Athens.
