Fascist Alert! The far right is organized at the Faculty of Law at the UAM UJCE

National Democracy, especially through their youth (DNJ) is starting to create their own networks and student groups at public universities. The initials of the neo-Nazis camouflaged in this case are "SIU (Solution Independent University)" association with several years of existence in Salamanca, whose initials are used to extend public universities. Recognize a presence in Madrid (UAM), Salamanca (U.S.), Asturias, Navarra, Las Palmas, Santiago, Valladolid and Murcia, although very few have made an appearance or performed any activity. Under the banner of independence from any political party even come to define as "apolitical " are starting to legalize their associations around the English government and from a very specific time: end of course / summer 2009, except in Salamanca, precursor of SIU kernel. The main concern is not there but are hidden under the mask of his alleged Apollo students trying to fool more naive or clueless.

in Salamanca SIU SIU

is created in the second half of the nineties at the University of Salamanca, where the union section Falangist SEU in Salamanca. Doing a bit of memory, one of the few acts that wanted to make SIU at the University of Salamanca was 1999, when they tried to teach a course on the figure of Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera, founder of the English Falange. The event is over suspending the pressure of various progressive groups of students. At that time the President of SIU was Juan José Coca, provincial delegate of the English Falange de las JONS. SIU has just disappeared in 2004 following the dissolution of the Falange in Salamanca. Two years later, in 2006, members of National Democracy retake the association making the acronym, presenting the 2007 elections with student at the University of Salamanca garnering only 30 votes in the entire university, more of 2,600 votes cast, luring many Erasmus students reported themselves as below.

SIU Madrid

seem rather curious that suddenly, in just a couple of months, these students are known for anything, to form 7 regional sections without an organization behind motor.
But coincidences of life, on April 25 was an act of submission of SIU in Madrid, attended by the national head of SIU, which is neither more nor less than Javier Martín Hernández National Democratic delegate in Salamanca . Indeed, one of the few references prior to the summer you can find Internet is June 24, 2009, p. www.madridantiantifa.es web page by whose name comes across very apolitical, making a call for a meeting on Monday June 29 at the Faculty of Law of the UAM . On the same page can be found a comment from a blogger profile owner of a neo-Nazi blog reads: " Settlement On Monday we joined the Independent University in Madrid. It is a non-partisan student organization aimed at snatching nationalist left its monopoly in the classroom. We would do a great favor if you post an entry about it. For more information visit http://www.siuestudiantes.es/ stakeholders "

But it does not end there. SIU's presence in Madrid was confined essentially to the Faculty of Law at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, as they themselves recognize . At the beginning of the course the School dawned full of posters in the corks that are in the corridors of the Faculty with six photos of delegated SIU Madrid, Carlos S., where it appears with the flags of National Democracy, posing by the greeting fascist or other shirts with simple aesthetic and neo-Nazis. To add, Friday October 9 SIU held a rally in front of the Faculty, in which one side wanted to be known, and on the other hand, " show our support to a partner and member of Madrid SIU School of Law, Charles S., who in an act of cowardice, as it could be less, typically in them, hung by the college of law threatening proclamations against Charles with its image, and relating to SIU with political parties that have nothing to do with SIU . " They can say whatever they want, but the fact is that in the above mentioned photographs posing with flags appeared DN, shows again its proven apolicitismo.

His ideas

These students " apolitical," among other things, aim to "promote of national culture and respect for our Christian roots and a glorification of our Hispanic values "reject" the current politicization teacher "because they are" old enough ideologically independent "and" Any use of University facilities for partisan purposes intolerant and radical aspect . " Condemn "any advocacy violent, extremist " including " communism and other dictatorships ." Not only that, but as " be eradicated any hint of terrorism and extremism in the classroom and on campus. It is unacceptable that in the English universities and campuses have painted pro-terrorist. "They think they" should not be granted classrooms violent extremist groups. "Moreover, they oppose" the government project on historical memory " because, as young people who are, want to "introduce new blood that our people need ." For them, this company will fail if " from the national political elite is in the past and anchored in the political concepts binomial anachronistic ideological "left-right ."

And of course, after such a demagogic right-wing ideology, their faces to say they are "apolitical ."

His rejection of Bologna

make it clear that they are against the Bologna Process, in an opportunistic attempt to attract perhaps some naive clueless, even say " involves the" commodification "education and" entails a substantial increase in cost to the student, just as difficult to reconcile working life with the academic. "However, far from wanting to join the Student Assembly against Bologna during these demonstrations last year were created and have been the real unitary space and massive participation of the student movement, for them, " most of the pamphlets published by the rebellious organizations merely repeat progressive topics on the consequences of this plan. Hard to find criticism, attacks deep, well-grounded and going beyond the mere formality. "Since they share, or rather has been appropriated, almost the entire speech of the Assemblies, and for a lot of anti-progressive verbiage its decalogue against Bologna looks like a carbon copy of the analysis of the Assemblies of Students Against Bologna, his difference, or that analysis " well informed "who say they need at the Assemblies should be that which has not been heard by the Assembly but can be found in his ideas against Bologna, and is, with respect to selectivity, consider appropriate" any increased requirements, but instead as "completely unfair an increase in the level of a test point, and conversely, the educational level of middle and high school education, is kept as low level as the current due to "no racism" in our popular and socialist governments, which have continued to lower the level of primary and secondary to, say, to facilitate access to education for immigrant youth without any knowledge and without knowing English. "I mean, that according to SIU, lower educational level in Spain has been produced solely by the express will of PP and PSOE will give young immigrants access to our educational system. We understand that the analysis is "well-founded " that is lacking in the Student Assembly Against Bologna.

The "batasunización" the powers

By October of this year, SIU had convened its first meeting in Salamanca Student Patriots, the celebration had to postpone the month of December to Madrid, perhaps under pressure from the student movement. In Salamanca, one of their main demands had been denouncing the involvement of groups of rousing music in concert and collaboration with "Antifascist Action - Salamanca " CEA (Student Alternative Collective), denouncing "the powers batasunización . " This forms part of his campaign of what they mean "at the University terrorism" campaign for which a dossier has been made available on its website in which basically charged against CEA for their concert and purported friendship with Fascist Action, contributing articles on "Digital Freedom " and " World" as a major objective evidence to accuse CEA Radical Anti-Fascist Action and friends of terrorists.

Not only this, they also provide as attachments two acts UJCE and PCE at the University of Salamanca: a conference on the participation of Che in revolutionary processes and an act by the Third Republic, which fall within his campaign against the presence of terrorism in the classroom, unconnected with any of the above, more than get in the sack of terrorism in the classroom anything that sounds like they left.

To access more information or evidence or graphical links to the pages listed, we recommend visiting the blog I have opened several students Salamanca: http://queessiu.blogspot.com/

Today more than ever we must be alert to these right-wing opportunists, who seek, through apolicitismo, winning over the most naive. Today, as always Fascist Alert!

Gay Gloryholes In Shreveport La

neoliberal reform of the public university is continuing

For this school year 2009/2010 the majority of degrees offered by each public university are already adapted to the Bologna Process, and the next year, all courses that are offered must be adapted to Bologna. In recent years the student has been able to organize and create a social movement against Bologna asambleario very strong and has had great social impact. From the now defunct movement for decent housing, there has been a youth movement as strong as this. A student movement during times of peak and maximum capacity for mobilization has been one of the few large protest and social movements that directly attacked the root of the problem: economic neoliberalism hegemonic in Western societies.

In recent years, youth, and with it the Communist Youth, we have been moving because we thought that the Bologna Process was merely the tool through which is commercialized, elitist and auctioned the English public university the highest bidder. The excuses under which defended Bologna were just pretty packaging that sour candy camouflaged representing reform. The mobility of students and was due to " Erasmus ", and if more young people leave for other countries to study for lack scholarship, not the old credit system, as advocated. The approval is more than doubtful considering only, for example, that in Spain the degrees have a duration of four years as against three from the rest of Europe, or France's refusal to approve their high schools. Only one thing was fairly certain: the improvement of " employability " of students who complete their degrees, but this will not be achieved by improving the quality of teaching, but the gradual elimination of most unnecessary qualifications for the job market - as Philosophy - Encouraging more job opportunities are. But although it improves the rates of entry into the labor market in jobs commensurate to their qualifications, hours of theoretical study has been reduced and replaced by hours of practical study, worsening the formation and the future / I workers / is. We arrived as an obvious conclusion: the Bologna Process is a farce.

But something really is true. Although only takes very little time with this new Plan of Bologna, we know that some of the things that spoke up coming true. The masters are increasingly expensive (1) , job opportunities and even the most basic need of masters (2) , also which mostly are not covered by the public universities as it should be (3) , forcing students to resort to private universities, which are much more expensive. And if we look at the countries that have taken as an example for reform, including the U.S., this means that students are (in our case will be) up to their eyeballs in debt (4) .

Obviously, that is not so obvious, the government also creates small caps, as l as aid station stop you for a Masters (5) , of which are excluded / o the / o immigrants (6) , one examines their efforts are laughable for the amount allocated to them, as in this case if it is estimated that the measure might be interested in to 400,000 stops / os, aid or barely cover half the 20,000 applications *.

What cover is not a University Strategy 2015, by which the government selected 15 campuses to leave (7) , which will endow greater financial resources, creating universities "for elites" better funded than most campuses, and universities will become "for the masses." In addition, the criteria under which an examination of the successes in research will be purely economic (8) , and if we consider that public funding for research is decreasing (9) , the outlook ahead is to some public universities will be forced to sell to the highest bidder for leave to remain (or become them.)

And so it is normal to teachers, whether we talk about specific qualifications (10) , as if we talk about specific universities (11) , are against Bologna.

* For this purpose, the Ministry has spent 49 million euros direct (+21 million for the CCAA, they have to spend "to promote the training of unemployed graduates by the products offered in the universities that are considered strategic for economic development of the Community "which is equivalent to saying that it will spend as you wish).

Considering that a master can cost half 2mil and 3mil euros (even though there are much more expensive), so we offer that may benefriciar, at most, between 24,500 and 16,300 students meeting these conditions. When given the news by TVE, noted that there are 400,000! unemployed graduate students (and likely that the aid might be interested.) Ie
this help benefit less than 5% of those who may be interested .

Cargo Ship Cruise With Dog

Interview with Rector of the UAM

Last Monday was published on the website of madri + d an interview our new rector, José María Sanz Martínez, interview was conducted in July. Not enter to question the legitimacy democratic "electoral process that led to his charge, nor - for now - the shortcomings and mistakes of his administration.

important thing about this interview is on the one hand, the concrete of the UAM, see how it will continue to materialize the implementation of the Bologna Process and its subsequent turns tuera in our university, and secondly what is still the legitimizing discourse for the whole process of university reform, which has been popularly called " Bologna."

Under the first, in the interview we can draw a clear example of the commodification of our UAM, despite that active and passive have been many voices from the Ministry have tried to deny that there would be a commodification of the university.:
In the eighth question, the president replied: "We must increase the visibility of the University and that means efforts communication, create a structure that is responsible to give visibility to the University, to strengthen its brand and image

[...]" If we change the word " University" by the name of a private company ... violates ! And it is in these moments when it becomes apparent that the public university is mutating as being that of a private company, and therefore is guided by the same key ideas than any other private company. Too bad, because before we had a public university that was trying to teach knowledge, and now only interested in selling "the brand and image ." Concretely

the UAM is also left at the end of the interview a touch of the new draft of Bologna twist, something we could call using computer jargon, "Bologna 2.0 " 2015 University Strategy , and one of its specific manifestation, the creation of the campus of excellence. The problem is that at the time of the interview was still not known much about, or at least not as much as now, we know that we in Spain 15 Campus of Excellence, which will redirect funding public research successes and the way we have here another example of the commercialization, which occurs when a public university again have to worry about their economic performance and based on it grow or keep, rather than the quality of academic services, not to come to value that are creating a select number of universities " elites", better funded and therefore with better skills , while other universities become "mass " least funded and less capabilities.

On the second, the discourse legitimizing for the whole process of university reform, there is a clear example in the first answer of how this process is justified, and that is the end of the university is to "transfer knowledge society and innovation of the university, in some way give back to society in the form of tax knowledge with us finances. "

What is the problem now? That while talking of transferring knowledge to society, behind these nice words appear harsh reality: the transfer of knowledge is not to society but to private companies, because the problem is these people - the system - makes a society that alignment are private companies, and then their interests are the same. This discourse is not new, has been pending Bricall Report 2000, it and a few years old.

What they forget is that every company that you are looking for private financial gain, while the company you are looking to meet their needs, so that the interests of both are conflicting and contradictory. In addition, this type of discourse that denies the obvious if it is to produce a transfer of knowledge from the university - funded by public money - for the personal gain of the minority of large private companies will take advantage of these patents, research now is subordinated to the needs and market development, and that it is not profitable, not interested in developing research.

Finally, something that also should be noted in the interview, which is grotesque, but it's not just about the discourse that legitimizes Bologna, but rather the hegemonic discourse of the liberal right against all types of "bureaucracy " can be found in the response to Question 5, when the rector, asked about the bureaucracy, responded that: " The theme of the bureaucracy is doing great harm to the management of R + D + i in general ." How? The main problem for researchers is the lack of money and public resources to fund projects ! If you look, at no time alludes to the real problem facing the researchers, but blames the bureaucratic problems I + D + i. Another example of discourse that is often used to justify some changes, in this case the reduction of an alleged excessive bureaucracy, while others, often the root causes are ignored. Under smokescreen trying to camouflage the root of any problem.

BALI POP QUILT ... WOMEN! BALI

Here I am again! Sorry I been missing so long, but No or there has been rest (almost) for me, first completing the quilt show you today, while advancing with the Dear Jane I do with Georgina (and we 40 blocks !!!), then smaller odd jobs to give away ... in short, super-busy. We keep the s options for mounting the quilt I made with my bali pop (by the way, has come a new collection you can see in Fat Quarter Shop ). Well, I show you some pictures of options and is qu m and occurred, but ultimately not used:

After deciding which would be the final design, I started thinking what would be the most appropriate edge to give the quilt the look. After giving 300 laps ... I decided to try something new: a Celtic border. Never before had I experienced with this technique and I thought a good exercise to learn (as I am self-taught, I take my work to develop new techniques). So using the computer (to make it completely symmetrical I used AutoCad, you know ... professional bias), I drew a border that I liked and moved to the fabric was sewn into a frame using the tracing paper Chacopaper Clover (I would recommend going really well):

Here you can
see the border drawn (in my case printed) on paper and held the edge with pins. At this point only a matter of sliding the tracing paper beneath the ground to transfer and review over the reason for it is highlighted on the web (for review can SUSAR a pencil but I use a pointed wooden stick-the used to thread the meat on skewers, because I prefer not to paint on the patterns):

So, with the strong mark on the web, I set out to give life to the fusible tape of Clover (I use a color bias degraded agree with the central quilt) . To apply the bias is going great the Clover miniplancha of all you have insurance.

Once "stuck the bias" with the plate, held it to the hidden stitch fabric and thread multicolor, here are some samples of the result:

Finally, I set up the quilt with wadding and back and the whole machine quilting with the help of the double leg dragging. For padding the center "review" the seams of the strips of bali pop and edge following the outline quilting (interior and exterior) of bias, and the areas left without bias, the quilted with thread the same color as the background using the same basis as for the border but this time without bias. Here is the final result:

QUILT MADE WITH A POP ... undergoing the kangaroo

Tildesco After I went through rush to receive the latest book by Tone Finnanger, wanted to change the subject and added one more task to my list of projects started (tell me that this does not happen only to me !!!).
This holiday season, the Kings brought me a pop Hoffman bali model concretely Strawberry fields. For those who do not know a pop bali is like a jelly roll but batik fabric type, ie a packet with 40 strips of 2.5''of different fabrics and cuts.

Thinking, thinking what to do with it ... I saw a picture in the network of a quilt made every cut strips sewn and I liked a lot. So I started thinking how I could sew and as I thought I started my select strips pop bali grouping them by color and sewed including:

As you can see, I chose 5 color groups, and sewed in turn 5 strips of each range in all its lingitud (44''). Once the strips sewn and ironed, it was time to take the cutter and cutting. For the design I had in mind, it was necessary to obtain right triangles (45 º). So first I cut rectangles given seam allowances that I must leave for later triangles:

From each, putting the rule to 45 degrees, leaving two triangles with the gradient reversed, ie, one goes from light to dark and the other goes dark to light:

Here you can see all the triangles cut, out 160 in total!

at this point to facilitate subsequent assembly, sewed all the triangles in pairs, forming again a square but with the gradient in the corner. For this material provides triangles with pins, matching seams:

And sewed by machine with the leg of 1 / 4'':

After ironed well, you can see how they stitched the squares the gradient in the corner. In this way we obtain, for each color range, half of squares that darken toward the center and the other half that darken out:

Well, this is where who I am: I have sewn all the squares and now I am enjoying playing with different ways to place, until you find the one I like. To give you an idea of what you can do I show one of my options:

hope I have not been too boring with all the roll today, I talk so much (is a disease with no cure, hehehe). In order to be attentive to your suggestions and constructive criticism ... A hug and happy week!
